The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 And by the Day promised, 2 By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;- 3 Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire), 4 [Containing] the fire full of fuel, 5 When they were sitting near it 6 Witnessing what they had done to the believers! 7 The only reason for which they tormented the believers was the latter's belief in God, the Majestic, and Praiseworthy. 8 Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness of all things. 9 Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning. 10 As for those who believed and acted righteously, theirs shall be Gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great triumph. 11 Verily the grip of thine Lord is severe. 12 Surely He it is Who originates and reproduces, 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 The Lord of the Glorious Throne, 15 and the Most Effective in His decision. 16 Have you not heard about the stories of the armies 17 of Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 Yet the unbelievers still belie, 19 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. 20 Nay; but this is a glorious Qur'an, 21 written on a preserved Tablet. 22
