Al-Najm 3 of 3
(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 Thamud, 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 and caused them to be covered with that which He covered them with. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
