The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 thy robes purify 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 it will be a hard day 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons standing before him, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked round; 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
