The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.
