۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
