The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the close of night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
