Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 That they may bring to thee every magician knowing. 112 And the sorcerers came to Pharaoh, saying, 'We shall surely have a wage, if we should be the victors?' 113 Answered [Pharaoh]: "Yes; and verily, you shall be among those who are near unto me." 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "Throw (now) thy rod": and behold! it swallows up straight away all the falsehoods which they fake! 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 So they were vanquished there, and they turned about, humbled. 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 and said, "We believe in the Lord of the Universe, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 "Surely, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all." 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 "The only reason you have to hate us is that we believed in the signs of our Lord as they came to us. O our Lord, give us sufficient endurance that we may die submitting (to You)." 126
