Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
