The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, We believe, and not be tried? 2 We tried those who have gone before them. Allah knows those who are truthful and those who lie. 3 Or do those who do evil deeds think they can outrun Us? Evil is what they judge. 4 Whoso looks to encounter God, God's term is coming; He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 5 Whoever strives hard should know that it is for his own good. God is independent of the whole world. 6 Those who believe and work righteous deeds,- from them shall We blot out all evil (that may be) in them, and We shall reward them according to the best of their deeds. 7 We have charged the human to be kind to his parents. But if they bid you to associate with Me that which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me you will return, and I shall inform you of all that you have done. 8 Those who believe and do good works shall be admitted among the righteous. 9 Of mankind are some who say: we believe in Allah; then if they are afflicted in the way of Allah, they take the persecution of men even as the torment of Allah; and then, if succour cometh from thy Lord they say: verily we have been with you. Is not Allah the Best Knower of that which is in the breasts of the creatures? 10 And most certainly Allah will know those who believe and most certainly He will know the hypocrites. 11 And [He is aware, too, that] they who are bent on denying the truth speak [thus, as it were,] to those who have attained to faith: "Follow our way [of life,] and we shall indeed take your sins upon ourselves!" But never could they take upon themselves aught of the sins of those [whom they would thus mislead]: behold, they are liars indeed! 12 They shall certainly carry their loads, and other loads along with their loads, and upon the Day of Resurrection they shall surely be questioned concerning that they were forging. 13
