The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
