The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
