Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 Had We revealed it to a non-Arab 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 what avail will their past enjoyments be to them? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 If they disobey you, tell them, "I condemn your disobedient deeds". 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
