And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 Upon your heart (O Muhammad SAW) that you may be (one) of the warners, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 And the satans have not brought it down. 210 nor does it behove them, nor does it lie in their power. 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." 216 And rely upon Allah the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
