Al-Najm 3 of 3
Have you then seen him who turns his back? 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa. 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 And that upon Him (Allah) is another bringing forth (Resurrection); 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad 50 Thamud, 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Will you, then, wonder at this? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
