He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
