The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones you will be brought back to life again? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
