And We did not create the heaven and the earth and what is between them in vain; that is the opinion of those who disbelieve then woe to those who disbelieve on account of the fire. 27 [For,] would We treat those who have attained to faith and do righteous deeds in the same manner as [We shall treat] those who spread corruption on earth? Would We treat the God-conscious in the same manner as the wicked? 28 This is a Book which We have sent down upon you, a blessed Book, for them to ponder upon its verses, and for men of intellect to accept advice. 29 And We gave unto David Solomon; how excellent a servant he was! He was a penitent. 30 Behold, there were brought before him, at eventide coursers of the highest breeding, and swift of foot; 31 And he said: Lo! I have preferred the good things (of the world) to the remembrance of my Lord; till they were taken out of sight behind the curtain. 32 "Bring them back to me!" -- [he said] and began to stroke their legs and their necks. 33 We surely tried Solomon, and placed another body on his throne. So he turned to God 34 He said: “My Lord, forgive me and bestow upon me a kingdom such as none other after me will deserve. Surely You are the Bounteous Giver.” 35 Then We subjected to him the wind: it ran gently by his command withersoever he directed. 36 and all the devils who built and dived for him. 37 and others also, coupled in fetters: 38 This is Our gift, so bestow thou or withhold, without rendering an account. 39 And he had a near place in Our presence and a fair resort. 40
