The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great tidings! 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
