The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
