So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
