And Jonah too was one of the Messengers. 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 And a fish swallowed him, and he was reproaching himself. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. – 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 Then We sent him unto a hundred thousand, or more, 147 And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. 148 So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons? 149 Did We create the angels females, to which they were witnesses? 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 Will you not then mind? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful. 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]. 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 And there is none of us but has an assigned place, 164 We stand in ranks (for prayer) 165 And verily we! we hallow. 166 They say, 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys; 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
