S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 nay, but the unbelievers glory in their schism. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.” 5 Their assembly left (saying): 'Go, and be patient to your gods, this is something to be desired. 6 We never heard of this in the former religion. It is nothing but an invention. 7 Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Or do they possess the dominion of the heavens and the earth and of all that is in between them? If so, let them ascend the heights of the realm of causation and see! 10 A very host of parties is routed there! 11 Even before them the people of Noah, 'Ad, the mighty Pharoah, 12 and the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Wood -- these were the confederates. 13 not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. 14
