Messengers! Eat of that which is good and do good deeds; I have knowledge of the things you do. 51 Verily this your order is one order, and I am your Lord, so fear Me. 52 But then they divided up their order into different creeds, each section rejoicing in what it had come to have. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they think that because We have granted them abundance of wealth and sons, 55 We are hastening them on to good things? Aye! they perceive not. 56 Verily! Those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 and believe in His messages 58 who associate none with their Lord, 59 and those who give what they give, their hearts quaking that they are returning to their Lord -- 60 it is these who hasten to do good works and vie in so doing with one another. 61 And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in perplexity as to this, and they have deeds besides that that they are doing. 63 So that when We seize the affluent among them with affliction, they will begin to implore for help. 64 "Put a stop to your groaning now! Surely no help shall be provided to you from Us. 65 My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels, 66 "In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night." 67 Have they, then, never tried to understand this word [of God]? Or has there [now] come to them something that never came to their forefathers of old? 68 Or do they not recognise their Messenger, that they deny him? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder. 71 Or is it that you ask them a recompense? But the recompense of your Lord is best, and He is the best of those who provide sustenance. 72 and, most surely, you are calling them to a straight path. 73 And verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed deviating far astray from the Path (true religion Islamic Monotheism). 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 So that when at last We open up the gate of severe punishment on them they will be overwhelmed with despair. 77
