The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
