The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
