Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
