We have expounded (the Truth) in diverse ways in this Qur'an that they might take it to heart but all this only aggravates their aversion. 41 Say, (O Muhammad): "Had there been other gods with Him, as they claim, they would surely have attempted to find a way to the Lord of the Throne. 42 Hallowed be He, and exalted be He above that which they say - a great height! 43 The seven heavens, the earth, and whosoever in them, exalt Him. There is nothing that does not exalt with His praise, but you do not understand their exaltation. Surely, He is Clement, Forgiving. 44 When you recite the Quran, We place an invisible barrier between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter. 45 And We have put coverings over their hearts lest, they should understand it (the Quran), and in their ears deafness. And when you make mention of your Lord Alone [La ilaha ill-Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) Islamic Monotheism] in the Quran, they turn on their backs, fleeing in extreme dislikeness. 46 We know well with what (intent) they hear you, for when they confer privately the wicked say: "You follow but a man deluded." 47 See to what they liken you! But they are lost and cannot find the right path. 48 And they say: when we shall have become bones and fragments, shall we in sooth be raised as a new creation? 49 Tell them: "(Even if) you turn to stones or steel, 50 ۞ or some creation yet more monstrous in your minds!' Then they will say, 'Who will bring us back?' Say: 'He who originated you the first time.' Then they will shake their heads at thee, and they will say, 'When will it be?' Say: 'It is possible that it may be nigh, 51 On that Day He will call you, and you will answer by praising Him, thinking that you have stayed for only a little while." 52
