He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
