The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
