The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 and the day in splendour 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And affirms goodness, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
