And [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allah] before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great flood. 76 And We helped him against the people who rejected Our signs as lies. They were a wicked people indeed, so We drowned them one and all. 77 And Dawood and Sulaiman when they gave judgment concerning the field when the people's sheep pastured therein by night, and We were bearers of witness to their judgment. 78 We gave Solomon the right understanding of the matter, and We bestowed wisdom and knowledge on both of them. We caused the mountains and the birds to celebrate Our praises along with David. We had the power to do this -- 79 And We taught him the art of making garments (of mail) to protect you in your daring. Are ye then thankful? 80 And to Sulaiman (Solomon) (We subjected) the wind strongly raging, running by his command towards the land which We had blessed. And of everything We are the All-Knower. 81 And of the Shayatin (devils) (from the jinns) were some who dived for him, and did other work besides that; and it was We Who guarded them. 82 ۞ And (remember) Job, when He cried to his Lord, "Truly distress has seized me, but Thou art the Most Merciful of those that are merciful." 83 Then We heard his prayer and removed that adversity from which he suffered, and We gave him his household (that he had lost) and the like thereof along with them, a mercy from Our store, and a remembrance for the worshippers; 84 And Ismail and Idris and Zulkifl; all were of the patient ones; 85 We encompassed them in Our mercy; they were righteous people. 86 And (remember) Dhu'n-Noon (Jonah of the fish), when he went away in anger and imagined We will not test him (with distress). Then he called out from the darkness: "There is no god other than You. All glory to You; surely I was a sinner. 87 We answered his prayer and saved him from his grief. Thus We save the faithful ones. 88 And (remember) Zakariya (Zachariah), when he cried to his Lord: "O My Lord! Leave me not single (childless), though You are the Best of the inheritors." 89 And so We responded unto him, and bestowed upon him the gift of John, having made his wife fit to bear him a child: [and,] verily, these [three] would vie with one another in doing good works, and would call unto Us in yearning and awe; and they were always humble before Us. 90 And she who guarded her chastity! Then We breathed into her of Our spirit, and made her and her son a sign unto the worlds. 91 Verily this community of yours is a single community, and I am your Lord; so worship Me. 92 But (later generations) cut off their affair (of unity), one from another: (yet) will they all return to Us. 93
