The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 on raised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
