۞ By the Day of Resurrection, 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Even if he presents his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 On that day, the herding will be only towards your Lord. 30
