Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
