Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Kaf Ha Ya Ain Sad 1 This is the remembrance of the mercy of your Lord upon His bondman Zakaria. 2 When he called to his Lord a private supplication. 3 he prayed: "O my Sustainer! Feeble have become my bones, and my head glistens with grey hair. But never yet, O my Lord, has my prayer unto Thee remained unanswered. 4 Indeed, I fear my kinsmen who will succeed me, for my wife is barren. Grant me a kinsman 5 who shall be my inheritor and the inheritor of the House of Jacob; and make him, my Lord, well-pleasing.' 6 "O Zachariah," (it was) said, "We give you good news of a son by name of John.' To none have We attributed the name before." 7 He submitted, “My Lord – how can I have a son whereas my wife is barren and I have reached infirmity due to old age?” 8 (The angel) said, "This is true, but your Lord says, 'For Me it is easy; I created you when you did not exist". 9 He said: My Lord! give me a sign. He said: Your sign is that you will not be able to speak to the people three nights while in sound health. 10 Then Zachariah came forth from the shrine to his people and told them by signs to glorify the Lord morning and evening. 11 “O Yahya – hold the Book firmly”; and We gave him Prophethood in his infancy. (Prophet Yahya was only 2 years old at that time.) 12 And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah 13 And duteous unto his parents, and was not high-handed rebel. 14 So Peace on him the day he was born, the day that he dies, and the day that he will be raised up to life (again)! 15
