۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 Are we then not to die 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
