Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 laboring, wornout, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
