۞ He it is who created you from a single soul, and He created therefrom his spouse that he might find repose in her. Then when he covereth her she beareth a light burthen and fareth about therewith; then when she groweth heavy the twain call upon Allah their Lord: if Thou vouchsafest us a goodly child, we shall surely be of the thankful. 189 But when He vouchsafeth the twain a goodly child they set up unto Him associates in respect of that which He hath vouchsafed to them. Exalted be Allah far from that which they associate! 190 Do they associate with Him those who create nothing and are themselves created? 191 They have no power to help others. nor can they help themselves. 192 If ye call them to guidance, they will not obey: For you it is the same whether ye call them or ye hold your peace! 193 Surely those whom you call on besides Allah are in a state of subjugation like yourselves; therefore call on them, then let them answer you if you are truthful. 194 Have these [images,] perchance, feet on which they could walk? Or have they hands with which they could grasp? Or have they eyes with which they could see? Or have they ears with which they could hear? Say [O Prophet]: "Summon to your aid all those to whom you ascribe a share in God's divinity, and thereupon contrive [anything you may wish] against me, and give me no respite! 195 "Verily, my Wali (Protector, Supporter, and Helper, etc.) is Allah Who has revealed the Book (the Quran), and He protects (supports and helps) the righteous. 196 “And those whom you worship besides Him cannot help you nor do they help themselves.” 197 If you call them to the right path, they will not hear you. You find them looking towards you, but they do not see you. 198 Use thou indulgence and enjoin seemliness and turn away from the ignorant. 199 And if there prompt thee a prompting from the Satan, seek refuge with Allah; verily He is Hearing, Knowing. 200 Surely those who guard (against evil), when a visitation from the Shaitan afflicts them they become mindful, then lo! they see. 201 Their brethren plunge them further into error and cease not. 202 And whenever thou bringest not unto them, as a sign, they say: wherefore hast not thou selected it? Say thou: I only follow that which hath been revealed unto me by my Lord. This is an enlightenment from your Lord and a guidance and a mercy unto a people who believe. 203 And when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and remain silent, that mercy may be shown to you. 204 Remember thy Lord in thy soul, humbly and fearfully, not loud of voice, at morn and eventide. Be not thou among the heedless. 205 Surely, those who are with your Lord (angels) are never too proud to perform acts of worship to Him, but they glorify His Praise and prostrate before Him. ۩ 206
