a multitude of the ancients, 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 "(We) and our fathers of old?" 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum. 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 Drinking the way thirsty camels drink. 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 from changing the nature of your existence and bringing you into being [anew] in a manner [as yet] unknown to you. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We have made it as a reminder and convenience for the needy. 73 Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme! 74
