In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Keep watch all the night except some, 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 for, behold, heavy fetters [await them] with Us, and a blazing fire, 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19
