The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and who still desires more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 Burning the skins! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
