The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
