The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
