Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness this land 1 – this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Does he, then, think that no one has power over him? 5 He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 a tongue, and two lips, 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?- 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 or to a destitute lying in dust; 16 Then he became of those who believed and enjoined on each other steadfastness and enjoined on each other compassion. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 The Fire will be shut over them (i.e. they will be enveloped by the Fire without any opening or window or outlet. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
