Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha, Meem. 1 A revelation from Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book the verses of which are explained in detail, the Qur’an in Arabic for people of intellect. 3 A herald of good news and a warner, but most of them turn aside so they hear not. 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 Say: I am only a mortal like you; it is revealed to me that your Allah is one Allah, therefore follow the right way to Him and ask His forgiveness; and woe to the polytheists; 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
