Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
