When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the breath of morning 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
