The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 by the day when it brightens the earth, 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 and by the soul and that (Power) which designed it 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Thamud (people) denied (their Prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism, and by following polytheism, and by committing every kind of sin). 11 when their arch-criminal rose up in rage. 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
