The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a fitting requital, 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
