The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
