He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attend to him, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We send down abundant water, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 olives, dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
